Want to start debating? Want to find out what it’s like? Want to know more? Here’s how you can:
Regular Debates – Monday 17:30
Every Monday we host our normal debates. These are student led debates on a variety of topics. They start with a discussion topic – which is a friendly discussion between all attendees – and then moves onto to main debate, where several students will come to the stage and debate for or against the proposition. We end this session with a ‘fun debate’.
The KPA – Monday 19:00
We usually visit the KPA afterwards to continue the debates, or get to know each other over a drink, or some food. The KPA serves a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and it is a fun, relaxing atmosphere to get to know other members in the society. You’re more than welcome to come along and chat to us about forthcoming events, what the society is like, or just to get to know your committee.
Every semester we host our ‘Big Debates’ where you can watch our guest speakers debate on a particular motion. There is also a chance for audience participation during the Question and Answer sessions. So far we have hosted big debates about the environment, drugs, and feminism. We will be hosting a big debate on the forthcoming EU referendum on the 7th March.
